This probably sounds REALLY stupid, but I think it was loosely based off of Jetpac. In Jetpac, you can fly up, shoot horizontally, or even hover in midair. Diddy's move has these three same features. It's not EXACTLY the same thing, though, as Diddy shoots out peanuts, where the guy in Jetpac shoots out a laser, but still, it reminds me of it. What do you all think?

I always thought so. Maybe I wouldn't have even made that connection if Jetpac didn't appear in DK64, but it's just too coincidental to be a... Coincidence...

Actually, I'm pretty convinced that DK64 is a really just a sequel to Jetpac, with Kong cameos.

That's a pretty interesting thought...I think they may have made Diddy's rocketbarrel work that way becauseofJetpac...but why Jetpac? Is Rare full of fans of the game?

Kinda, I mean there are a lot of similarities, but it could just be a coincidence. They could just want another airborne Kong.
