That happens to me too. If I remember correctly, Qyz said he was going to contact his "server holding service place... uhh" thing because of those problems.

There's a lot of discussion about these server errors in the general troubleshooting topic. I haven't yet found a solution, but I sure hope to soon... I just paid for another year of hosting, so it will be a shame if I'm wasting money on a crappy service. :S

If it comes to it, I'll pay for another hosting service. I don't want the site to be unreliable - especially with all the great plans I have in store.

I went onto the DKC Atlas website, and noticed this part of the update:

More level info will be added soon, and some cool challenges by gamer_boy997 will be featured in tomorrow's update.

Boy, am I excited!

Haha, yeah that's definitely something to be excited about. :P
It's about time I included some of your excellent challenges.

Cyclone wrote:Qyzbud just a minor suggestion. Would it be possible to add a "+" button somewhere on the pages so that you can make the text bigger? It was borderline too small for me before and now it is too small. It's so small on my monitor that you can tell that the text is not rendering as nice as it should and i'm finding it hard to read. Thanks.

I'll definitely take a look at that. Should be easy enough to implement... You must think I'm out to get you after our last discussion about fonts.

Noticed that you added a dozen challenges or so (two of them are mine :D ). You also finished the Ice Age Alley map. This may sound kind of dumb, but on the map index page's map list, ice age alley isn't in white text. You may want to fix that, since it will let people know that that map is finished. Also, we are in mid-November, and according to one of the updates, the DKC2 atlas is right around the corner! It should come... probably within the next week.

Okay, I hope I'm not spoiling anything again, but...

Spoiler!
Go to dkc-atlas.com, NOT dkc-atlas.com/dkc, got to dkc-atlas.com, and you will notice it shows the 3 title screens of the games, and you can click the first DKC to goes to a 404 message, but the second and third don't lead to anything yet...

I don't think you're spoiling anything.
In fact not many people browse that page so it's kind of a good idea to tell of it here =P
For me the first DKC image works.

That's totally new! I visited that page like 20 minutes ago and it wasn't there...It seems like a good intro page, and actually makes that page more useful (not that it wasn't, but you can access the forums from http://www.dkc-atlas.com/dkc, so the page didn't have too much of a purpose...). :D

Yes, the DKC Atlas hub page is up and running. It may seem, like Potogamer said, "Purposeless", but it will have much more to offer in the near future.

Come on, have we ever dissapointed?

gamer_boy, I'm thoroughly amazed at how quickly you noticed the latest developments. There was talk over here about the hub page mere moments after I did the update!

The hub is very basic at the moment, but as you would expect, I have lots of plans to make it a far more valuable home page for the Atlas. Exciting times! :D

Unfortunately, at least at this point in time, the "articles" section is for site staff to write for only. Except for the DKC History Month project, which gives you free reign to write any article(though we may choose not to include it, it depends upon it's quality) for the site.

The articles that are listed as "coming soon" will be up as soon as we can get them ready(they are all finished, but they need to be formatted to look nice).

Remember, anyone who wants to write an article for DKC History Month you only have the month of November to do so....

I'm sure people have noticed, but they are pretty small updates so far. I'm planning to integrate the forum into the site, so anyone browsing the site or forum will be informed of updates. I'm working on doing this right now, actually. :)

I'd actually like if all Updates would be in only one list. Having DKC2's in its own makes it difficult to keep track of all of them.

I'm glad you like that idea, because that's how I'm planning to organise things. :)

The hub/home page will include a list of all recent site updates (including forum changes/upgrades, etc.), and the News section of the home page will feature reports of DKC-related games, media, etc., as well as notable fan project releases and that sort of thing.

I just noticed that when you click on the Projects or News sections and you're sent to the hub page, there isn't a DKC2-Atlas link. It's not really a big deal (just click back), but I thought you should know anyway.

Is it me, or did you change the hub background? (I remembered it was completely dark...right?)

Whoah, big update! Projects, Articles, DKC News, and Site News.

Only things: The link on the top of the forum still links to DKC Atlas instead of the hub, and there is no news about Jungle Biit(which is very big and exciting news in my opinion..)

Here are a few small things about the site you might want to know:

Spoiler!
1. First of all, the DKC and DKC2 Atlases don't have a link to the DKC3 Atlas in the Home drop-down menu.

2. All 3 atlases have a link to their own atlas in the home drop-down menu, I don't think that's needed  .

3. For the DKC2 and 3 Atlases, if you click on the first world on the level info drop-down menu, you get a snapshot of the world map, but on the right of it are broken images, are those supposed to be there?

4. On the bottom of the pages for the DKC1 and DKC2 Atlases, there are images of Kongs, and a unique item from that game, but the DKC3 Atlas doesn't have these. :(

Not really important stuff, but it makes the site feel more... "complete" or "perfect", not that it has to be perfect or anything  .

EDIT: Here's a couple more small things.

5. On the DKC1 Atlas main page, it says something like, "A guide to Donkey Kong Country", you might want to do the same thing with the other atlases by saying, "A guide to Donkey Kong Country 2/3".

6. At the top of the DKC1 Atlas, it says, "Level Maps!", which leads to DKC's level maps, you might want to do the same with the DKC2 and DKC3 Atlases.

EDIT 2:

7. On the DKC2 and DKC3 Atlases, when I click on Level Info on the top list, I go to a odd selection page, but on the DKC1 Atlas, I go to a more "fit" page, but this is probably because you're still working on it.

EDIT 3:

8. On the DKC3 Atlas, when you put your cursor over Home, some black appears above it.

9. On the DKC3 Atlas world map, the outline isn't fully around the snapshot.

There are probably hundreds of other things out there I can list here.

Fixed. (forgot to upload updated menus)

All 3 atlases have a link to their own atlas in the home drop-down menu, I don't think that's needed
Simion's got the right idea...

For the DKC2 and 3 Atlases, if you click on the first world on the level info drop-down menu, you get a snapshot of the world map, but on the right of it are broken images, are those supposed to be there?
Work in progress.

On the bottom of the pages for the DKC1 and DKC2 Atlases, there are images of Kongs, and a unique item from that game, but the DKC3 Atlas doesn't have these.
You noticed! I'll be sure to pick some pic's soon.

On the DKC1 Atlas main page, it says something like, "A guide to Donkey Kong Country", you might want to do the same thing with the other atlases by saying, "A guide to Donkey Kong Country 2/3".
Another work in progress... this one ought to be pretty easy. Heh.

At the top of the DKC1 Atlas, it says, "Level Maps!", which leads to DKC's level maps, you might want to do the same with the DKC2 and DKC3 Atlases.
Maybe once I actually have level maps for the other games...

On the DKC2 and DKC3 Atlases, when I click on Level Info on the top list, I go to a odd selection page, but on the DKC1 Atlas, I go to a more "fit" page, but this is probably because you're still working on it.
Ah, directory index listings... yeah, I'll be sure to fill in the blanks as soon as possible.

On the DKC3 Atlas, when you put your cursor over Home, some black appears above it.
It's due to the overlapping effect I used to make the DKC3 Atlas's header graphics more interesting. Doesn't happen in Firefox. I may be able to find a fix for it, but it's not a big deal, really. In fact, it might be useful if I decide to make DKC's Atlas overgrown with jungle graphics - that way, you can see the link clearly once you mouse over it. That'd be cool.

On the DKC3 Atlas world map, the outline isn't fully around the snapshot.
Most certainly a work in progress.

Not really important stuff, but it makes the site feel more... "complete" or "perfect", not that it has to be perfect or anything.
Of course it has to be perfect! Perfection just takes time. Thanks for pointing these things out.

There are probably hundreds of other things out there I can list here.
Feel free, I really appreciate this. It's handy to have these issues listed as a 'to-do' list.

First of all, I didn't say do it at this very second.

Second of all, you do have some terrain maps for DKC2.

True, but basic terrain data isn't really something I'd want to promote on every page of the game's Atlas. It will just be a matter of time until I've got a few maps completed for DKC2 and 3, and once they're available, I'll quite likely create a Level Maps! link to reflect that. I might aim to do it a little differently, though... As I get more and more of the maps complete, and am happier with the interface/presentation, I will probably provide direct links (and maybe even map previews) from the level info pages. Cheers.
