Old PC games being played in new PCs

Well, I got this.
Today while being bored, I decided to install my old Midtown Madness 2 copy in my PC with Vista. Nothing wrong during the instalation.
I twiked the settings so that it would display it in my monitor, being an old game the default resolution is 800x600.
But I got no sound. Maybe it's Windows Itself, but I don't see why it would be like that.
Oh, and framerate is choppy sometimes.
It's Windows Vista Home Premium laptop, so I see Aero effects, I thought it would be enough for the game, since it's 9 years old.
Oh, and I got a 3.1 in that test Microsoft put in.
Any ideas, or has something simmilar happened to you?
EDIT: I was able to get sound, it was due to an incorrect configuration in the settings.
EDIT2: I realized this topic isn't necessary now (as well not really popular) since there exists a Technology Thread now.
I'll delete it in 24 hours, but if a mod is kind enough to lock it and send it to the Post Mortuary, it'll be appreaciated =)
Qyz says: Yep, good point. Done.
