'Quick Reply', 'Give Banana' and 'Chat'!

Postby Qyzbud » January 9th, 2013, 11:04 pm

Hi everyone, I hope the new year has been treating you well so far. :)

Today I'm officially announcing an update to our forum style that brings a bunch of new features:

The new 'atlas2' style offers these great new features:

  • Quick Reply lets you respond to a topic without having to load the posting page
  • Give Banana allows you to reward a fellow member for posting something good
  • Chat is a fantastic way to share your thoughts with other members in real-time

There are also many other improvements to enjoy, including an updated 'post profile' design that I'm sure you'll like, a nicer 'logo links' panel, and a bunch of security and structure improvements that you will probably not notice, but will benefit from nonetheless!

Enjoy the new looks and features, guys — and let me know what you think!

Note: The current style 'atlas1' has been retired (disabled), and I will only be updating and supporting atlas2 from now on!

Now that atlas1 has been disabled, the following instructions are redundant:
Spoiler!
Click here to choose the new style — 'atlas2'

Just select atlas2 for 'My board style', then click Submit.

That's it! :D

I haven't intentionally disabled banana-giving in Anything Goes... but now that you mention it, it does look non-admin banana-giving is restricted to certain boards.

I'll look into it.

Thank you for the new style, Qyzbud. I have a question though. Will I get in trouble if I give away too many bananas? (And I don't mean DK's!)

You're welcome. :)

Giving a banana ought to be a meaningful gesture, but you won't get in trouble for being generous; feel free to give bananas whenever you think they are deserved. ;)

Hey Qyzbud, if you ever try to advertise making the switch to atlas2 and are in need of actual users who have done so, you can use me! I'll say, "My name is Super Luigi!, and when I made the switch today, I was happy!"

Thanks for the offer, but I've just disabled atlas1... now everyone will enjoy the benefits of atlas2! :swanky:

I'm glad to hear you were happy to make the change, though! :)

Hey.

'atlas2' doesn't display any user's locations.

Each user's location info is still available via their profile, but as you've noticed, this detail is no longer shown in the 'post profile'. This was a conscious decision to make things more tidy and compact when viewing a topic.

Do you miss seeing that info in post profiles?

Perhaps I could make it available as a 'tool tip' when a user's avatar is hovered; the avatar acts as a link to the user's profile, so that might be a logical choice.
