Well, as we already have this kind of topic for music and food, I figured that gaming is the next obvious step.

What games are you playing through currently, or are stuck on?

Actually, I just beat LoZ: Phantom Hourglass about two weeks ago. The game is so totally awesome, I still play it everyday.

Right now I'm still playing through Diddy Kong Racing, but I can't get the Silver Coin challenge on that Christmas Town level. It's very frustrating!

Well I was playing DKC for GBA a minute ago, and was also playing Bano-Kazooie on my N64 emulator.

Right now I'm playing Donkey Kong 64 on my N64 emulator. I've just rescued Diddy from Jungle Japes.

What a coincidence... I was about to play the exact same thing.

Playing N64 on an emulator rules, it's more than twice as good as playing the real thing on an HDTV. In fact SXGA is better than HD 1080i, but that's another argument entirely...

*EDITS* I'm trying to entice myself not to play DK64, because I want to get another update done before the 14th (school starts). Which may or may not happen.

I'm playing Donkey Kong Country 3 on my GBA. After about 3 years of saying I'll buy it, I finally did. Came with the box and manual too, which I was happy about. All for $20 Australian.

I'm also playing some Animal Crossing Wild World and some Diamond. I've been playing Brawl and MKWii with friends too.

I just got LoZ Twilight Princess. It's my first Zelda game since that gold one on the NES, I think that was either the first or the third.

Anyway, it's a little tougher than I thought. I'm at this part where I'm at this "Death Mountain", and I have to get up to the top but there's a "goron" that keeps rolling at me, and I have to try and stop him(just like with those goats at the beginning of the game), but every time I try he knocks me off the ledge.

Young Jomingo, allow me to take you under my Zelda wing. What you need is the Iron Boots. Go back to they village cheif and he'll give them to you.

I already beat the game. I also beat Phantom Hourglass, and have played and beaten or gotton close to beating, every Zelda title there is. (Except the stupid CD-i titles.)

Oh, and the gorons and Death Mountain are from Ocarina of Time.

Like I said, I haven't played a Zelda game since the NES days. I've never really been a fan of the series. Which one is Ocarina of Time? The N64 one? If so, that would explain it. I've never owned an N64 until just recently.

Lately i've been playing Rayman Revolution and I'm planning to play Rayman 3 on the weekend. I kinda wish i wasn't stuck with a PS2 so I could get some more modern games though...

LOZ Twilight Princess Rules. I have that game on my Gamecube. But im currently Playing Final Fantasy VI. Its the one where you gotta kill some evil general that looks like a clown on crack. (Kefka)

I actually played through DKC this weekend for the first time in a while. Time was horrible (just under two hours if I recall correctly) but it was worth it I think.

I also beat Super Mario Galaxy again with all stars. Can't believe how corny the ending is. No real spoilers, but just the way Charles Martinet calls out his lines; especially when he says "WELCOME, NEW GALAXY" or something like that. Cracked up at that part...

Otherwise, haven't been playing much I guess. Not sure what I'll be playing between now and November. Maybe I should go out and buy Kameo sometime soon.

I finally decided to try getting an Emulator and the DKC roms. To my surprise the lot was only a few MBs. So, I've been playing that for the first time in years.

During my moments of non-development time, I've enjoyed a brief trip down nostalgia lane with Star Fox 64 (called Lylat Wars here). Simplistic gameplay for the most part, but entirely enjoyable. I haven't played any of the newer Star Fox titles, but SF64 is a classic that I've always held in high regard.

Ah, Starfox 64. Fantastic game. I also play it sometimes, most often if a friend of mine (can be seen in the picture thread) visits me to get reminded of some sweet N64 nostalgia.
I'm not quite sure, but I think this was his first N64 game he bought after playing it on my N64. (maybe this was the reason for our good friendship, too )

Right now, I'm playing FF XII again to finally get the Zodiac Spear (just bought it recently, two years ago I have lent it from video store. I didn't know about the chests you must not open back then....)
A few weeks ago I also started playing FF VI, but I don't feel like playing it at the moment.

I cannot get enough of racing games, too; there is always enough time for a short time trial on Spa or Hockenheim (in case I can get those tyres warm enough to work properly)

Otherwise: Tetris Attack! Attack! Attack!

Edit: I recently bought Resident Evil Zero and the REmake, but I haven't played them yet because I neither have GC nor Wii...

Sounds like that mate of yours is a good friend to have. I don't really have any retro-gamer friends, unfortunately - but my brothers love the classics, so I can share some fun oldschool gaming sessions with them. They both love Star Fox, too.

Hey Stone; if you're a retro-gamer who loves love racing games... have you played Rock n' Roll Racing on SNES? It's such a fun game - easily my favourite SNES title outside of the DKC trilogy. I play that when I get a chance, too.

At the moment I basically just play racing games on PC, because using a force-feedback wheel and driving the most realistic possible racing is awesome.
Even my 5 year old cousin enjoys it. But he cannot reach the pedals.
I have heard and read about Rock n' Roll Racing, but never played it.
Retro gaming wise, I enjoy playing F-Zero and F-Zero X, Mario Kart (64 preferably) and Extreme G. Should play them again soon, I think

Just got Goldeneye 007. I remember playing it at my sisters house (with her son/my nephew) when I was 7. They lived in a trailer park, and all the kids around the park would come over and we'd take turns playing it multiplayer. Good times.

I played a race of F-Zero X just before bed last night; that's another fun game, and it's got such sweet music to race to.

I haven't played that, but I have F-Zero for the SNES. Thats pretty good, but I've played better "futuristic racers".

Having a bit of a metroid moment right now. Played through Metroid Prime for 100% and started playing through Metroid Prime 2 again.

Then I went back to a game I hadn't touched in a long time; one that I hadn't had much fun with before. Started up old Super Metroid, beat a few bosses, picked up the morph ball, missiles, morph ball bomb... couldn't stop playing! I find it funny, because I've never really been a big fan of the 2D metroid games (especially not the NES one, and I don't think that'll change) but now I think I'm really hooked!

I just beat Kraid today and I'm wandering around Norfair right now. It's interesting to hear music that's been reused in later games, like the Brinstar Depths theme which was later remixed in Metroid Prime 2 for the Torvus Bog Temple... such a relaxing tune. Either way, having a good time with the game, and I'll probably pick up the third Prime game for the Wii later this year, even though I hear the difficulty's been dumbed down a little bit since the first two games.

Super Metroid is a great game and a game I neither played nor owned in my SNES days.

I'm playing Super Mario Kart at the moment, because it looks like somebody has erased my saves...
To my knowledge, I've never finisched the Special Cup on 150ccm. I hate those cheating CPU drivers!
And sometimes the Kart physics feel a bit strange, too.

Woo! Just beat Metroid Prime 2. Have to say, the Sky Temple key hunt was a bit disappointing, since it kept me from completing the game in full for four years. The final bosses were a bit easy, but it was still a nice end to the game.

Now I need to get the third one... hehe.
