What should I expect?

Basically DKC-like gameplay on the Game Boy in black and white with lower quality sound. That aside, the Donkey Kong Land trilogy is wonderful to play through, and each game provides a brand new experience. The graphics can get a little glitchy looking at times, but it doesnt detract from the gameplay.

In the first one, there are entirely new areas and enemies, basically one crazy what-if idea after another, I love it.

The other 2... don't bother playing. They're just ports.

They aren't ports at all. DKL2 has the same story and maps, but the level layouts have been changed completely. DKL3 is a completely new game with levels based off DKC3, but different layouts as well as an added Time Attack mode once you've finished the game.

Sure, DKL had some original soundtracks, level archtypes and enemies, but that doesn't mean the other two aren't worth playing at all.
